Leslie Long

About

Leslie Long is a composer and lyricist who has been involved in bands, musicals and shows since 1981, both playing keyboards and as a sound engineer. He has also done arrangements for Matt McGranaghan and his Orchestra.

Leslie studied Caisleáin Óir for his Leaving Certificate, and in 1998 decided to write a musical (in English) based on the novel. Most recently he wrote At The End Of The Day, where the plot begins with the Bruckless drownings, a tragic story that is embedded in folklore in his native Dunkineely.

Leslie's music is inspired by the sounds of the 80's, and from a lyrical point-of-view, he is very passionate about rhyming.

Caisleáin Óir has been fully produced six times, with runs in Letterkenny, Ballybofey and Donegal Town. The production by Making Waves Productions in An Grianán Theatre in 2005 received a special AIMS award. At The End Of The Day, with a smaller cast has toured around venues in County Donegal, enthralled audiences in Ballybofey, Killybegs, Kilcar, Glencolmcille, Arranmore, Ballyshannon and Letterkenny.
